Learning at our school

The Fort Street High School ethos is to engage Fortians in effective learning, developing teamwork and problem-solving to become critical, creative, ethical thinkers and leaders of the 21st century. Enabling students to reach their full potential as informed global citizens requires students to participate in the school community which will develop in them a sense of perspective, balance and social justice. The school is responsive in meeting the learning needs of all students. There is a very strong encouragement for students to undertake extra-curricular activities as a way of supporting their development. Extra-curricular programs provide extraordinary opportunities for development in academic, cultural and sporting arenas. The dedicated teaching staff are afforded ongoing professional learning to ensure that gifted and talented students receive a differentiated curriculum with opportunities for acceleration and enrichment commensurate with gifted education best practices.
