Parent portal
At Fort Street High School we use parent portal apps to make communication and admin easier for families. These tools help you:
- make payments quickly and securely
- view academic reports
- stay up to date with school events
- record absences.
Our parent portal apps
Sentral
Sentral is used for communication from teachers, attendance and reports.
Parents will receive instructions on how to access the Sentral Parent Portal and will be given an access key at the beginning of Term 1.

For student attendance matters, booking parent and teacher interviews and accessing academic reports.

School Bytes
School Bytes is used for payments and permission notes for excursions.
Parents can setup their own School Bytes by following the instructions provided here.

For making payments, viewing financial records and giving parental consent for school events.

Other communications
Email
General information is also often distributed to parents and students via email. Please ensure that you inform the school if your details change.
Mercurius
The school newsletter (known as “Mercurius”) is published fortnightly and emailed to students Parents and Carers. Copies are also publish on the school website, where you can also view past issues.
The Fortian
The school magazine (“The Fortian”) is produced each year as a record of student achievements. Mr Chapman oversees a student team of editors from Years 10 and 11, and all students are encouraged to submit work for inclusion.
Social Media
The school also has an account on Facebook and Instagram.
Interpreter and Translation Services
Parents and carers may ask the school for an interpreter to be present when discussing matters involving their children. Interpreters can also be asked to be present at school meetings or parent-teacher interviews. Non-English-speaking parents, carers and community members can also use the Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450.
