Year 7 Camp 2025

Dear Parents or Carers,

The Year 7 Camp will be held at Point Wolstoncroft Sport and Recreation Centre, Gwandalan 2259 (90 minutes north of Sydney), from Wednesday 12 February to Friday 14 February 2025.

Camp Cost

The cost of the camp is $460. This fee will be added to your account. Payment will be required by Monday 3 February, 2025.  If you require financial assistance please contact the office.

At Fort Street High School, we use School Bytes for all permission notes and payments. All families will need to create a Schoolbytes Portal Account.

Please remember to fill in the reference box “Year 7 2025 camp” to assist us with the payment allocation. Included in this cost is accommodation, food, activities and travel to and from the camp.

Students and staff will travel to the venue by bus. The bus will depart from Fort Street High School at 7:30am on Wednesday 12 February. Students need to arrive at school by 7:15am for Roll Call to ensure the bus departs on time. The bus will return staff and students to school at approximately 3:30 pm on Friday 14 February. All camp activities are supervised by qualified instructors and adhere to the Department of Education regulations.

During the camp, students will be offered the opportunity to participate in a range of activities including: raft building, canoeing, sailing, archery, team challenge, standup paddleboard and teacher and peer support led sessions in the day and evening.

Medical and Consent Form

Point Wolstoncroft Sport and Recreation Centre requires a parent or carer to complete a medical and consent form prior to attending the Year 7 2025 camp.

The information that Sport and Recreation needs about your child includes:

·                Media consent

Once you submit the form, the information is sent to the Centre so the staff can prepare for your child’s visit.

What to bring:

Luggage should be limited to one bag equivalent to medium sized luggage with maximum weight of 10kg and a separate sleeping bag, plus a small backpack per child. Remember, your child will be required to carry their luggage so it is essential to make sure it is not too big or heavy.

Please label all clothing, towels and sleeping bag with your child’s name

·         Shorts (shorts to be mid-thigh)

·         T-shirts; short sleeved and long sleeved sun protection (NO singlets)

·         Jeans

·         Jumper or lightweight full length pants and tracksuit pants

·         Socks and underwear

·         Raincoat

·         Pyjamas

·         Swimming costume, rashie shirt, sunscreen, sun hat and sunglasses

·         Two pairs of running shoes (one old pair to wear in the water)

·         Toiletries, soap, lip balm and insect repellent (no aerosols)

·         Two towels

·         Pillow, sleeping bag or doona and two single flat sheets

·         Day backpack

·         Paper, pens or pencils

·         Plastic bags for dirty or wet clothes

·         Medication (if required)

·         Handkerchief or tissues

·         Water bottle

·         Covid test kit. Face mask x 2

Any items unclaimed at the end of camp will be left outside FSHS Reception for two weeks.

Do not bring:

·         Nuts or products with nuts (e.g. nut bars, mixed nuts)

·         Aerosol cans (i.e. spray-on deodorant or insect repellent)

·         Mobile phones and other electronic devices

·         Lollies or chewing gum

·         Anything valuable (The Office of Sport takes no responsibility for the loss or damage to a client’s personal property, including money or other valuable items)

Prohibited

·         Drugs, cigarettes and alcohol are not allowed at camp and any student found using or in possession of these items may be removed from the Centre. Students found in possession of illegal drugs will be reported to the police immediately.

·         Drones.

Reminder

·         Students and staff will arrive back at school at approximately 3:30pm on Friday 14 February 2025. Please arrange clearly with your child how they will get home, i.e. your child will be collected from school or your child will make their way home by public transport?

·         Teacher supervision will cease 15 minutes after the bus has arrived at school.
