Applications open in October of each year (when the applicant is in Year 5).  Applications for 2024 will open mid October 2022.  A state wide selective schools test is conducted in March of the following year. Selection committees assist in determining the students who are to be offered places and those to be placed on reserve lists.  More information for Year 7 enrolment is available here.

Year 8 – 10

Applications for Years 8 - 10 open during June to July of every year. A selection committee will shortlist twenty students for each year and when a place/s become available, the school will conduct interviews to fill the place/s. Placement is subject to the interview and subject availability.

Year 11

All applicants applying for Year 11 of the following year are required to sit an entrance test – Fort Street High School uses the Acer HAST (Higher Ability Selection Test).  Applicants are shortlisted according to their Acer HAST results and merit of application.
